The Young @ Heart Chorus lost their beloved Fred Knittle, 83, January 1st. Of Barbara, his wife of 57 years, Fred often said that their marriage was based on faith and trust. She had no faith in him and he didn't trust her. And that 'she's a religious cook, everything's a sacrifice or a burnt offering'. It's reported that Fred kept his sense of humor right to the end. In the hospital, with his whole family around him, he'd clutch at his throat and make like he was choking, then laugh at the horrified reaction. Fred Knittle, you will be stayin' alive each time we think about you.

The posted video had been removed by the time I tried to watch it but the comment section was still available. I've seen "Young At Heart" several times and tonight got to watch the bonus features. I'm still wiping away the tears at reading the loss of such an endearing, charming, funny, wonderful man. I wish I'd been able to see more of him, I'm truly saddened by the loss of such a great soul. My thoughts, prayers and love go to his family. I hope watching this movie (and extras) brings you some comfort in what still must be a tough time, dealing with such a great loss. He had a beautiful voice and I know that only select parts were shown to us, the public, but I have to believe in what I saw and what I saw was a beautiful, funny man that clearly loved his family and his life. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of us. I truly will remember him for as long as I live.
